SOMATIC PRACTICES

Reconnect with Your Body.

Understand Your Nervous System.

Somatic Practices

Somatic Practices are educational, body-based experiences that help you better understand your nervous system through movement, breath, sensation, and mindful awareness.

Whether you’re navigating chronic stress, major life transitions, feeling disconnected from your body, or simply wanting to better understand how your body responds to everyday life, these sessions provide a supportive space to slow down, reconnect, and develop practical tools you can carry into daily life.

What Are Somatic Practices?

Most of us spend our lives responding to what’s happening around us. Somatic practices invite us to notice what’s happening within us.

Rather than trying to fix your body or force yourself to relax, somatic work encourages curiosity about your internal experience—your breath, posture, sensations, movement, emotions, and the subtle ways your nervous system responds to everyday life.

Working at a pace that feels supportive, you’ll learn practical tools to better recognize your body’s signals, respond to stress with greater awareness, and strengthen your connection with yourself.

No previous experience is necessary. There is no “right” way to practice. Every session honors your comfort, choice, and personal pace.

What to Expect

Every nervous system is unique, so every session is unique.

Depending on your goals and what feels supportive that day, sessions may include:

  • Grounding and orienting practices
  • Breath awareness
  • Gentle or intuitive movement
  • Nervous system education
  • Sensory exploration
  • Guided reflection
  • Embodiment practices
  • Practical tools to support everyday regulation

Everything is collaborative and client-led. You are always invited to participate in ways that feel right for you, and every practice can be modified, adapted, or declined.

Meet Vanna

Savanna “Vanna” LaSusa

Certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy (ISTT)

Vanna brings more than 20 years of healthcare education and clinical experience to 640 Health Therapies. With a degree in Health Sciences and a background spanning surgical technology, medical assisting, phlebotomy, medical scribing, family practice, specialty care, and emergency medicine, she has spent much of her career learning how the body communicates through both health and stress.

Her connection to somatic work is also deeply personal. Since childhood, Vanna has experienced a heightened sensitivity to the body’s subtle cues and internal states. Through her own lived experience and healing journey, she came to understand how chronic stress and protective patterns can influence our nervous systems, relationships, and daily lives.

Following the birth of her fourth child and a significant career transition, Vanna sought somatic support for herself. That experience led her to complete certification in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy (ISTT) through The Embody Lab, providing language and structure to what she had already discovered firsthand—that meaningful change often begins by learning to listen to the wisdom of the body.

Savanna LaSusa

Today, Vanna offers educational and experiential somatic sessions grounded in curiosity, consent, choice, and pacing. Her approach integrates nervous system education with breath awareness, embodiment, gentle movement, sensory exploration, and guided reflection to help clients develop a deeper relationship with their own internal experience.

Her goal isn’t to “fix” people—it’s to help clients better understand their nervous systems, recognize their body’s signals, and build practical resources that support greater presence, resilience, and connection in everyday life.
